About

Peter Barker Fine Art is a traditional art gallery in central Uppingham, Rutland’s core cultural and arts epicentre. Owned and run by professional landscape artist Peter Barker and his partner, Jane, the gallery opened in 2015 and has since gained a reputation as being a warm and inviting haven bursting with beautiful, representational and impressionistic works of art.

Walls without art are soulless…

Art shouldn’t only be for a select few, and this myth the gallery would like to dispel.  Original art can suit all pockets and their goal is to encourage buyers not to fear investing in original artwork rather than selling themselves short with inferior and overpriced reproductions that will ultimately fade.  An original piece of art, painted by the hand of an impassioned artist, has so much more depth and soul and will not only last a lifetime, but will give enduring pleasure and may even increase in value.

Simple truth and enduring beauty…

Oxfordshire-born Peter is renowned for his depiction of Britain’s beautiful land and seascapes earning him prestigious membership to the Royal Society of Marine Artists.  He is also equally recognised for his life-like portrayal of wild and domestic animals. To complement his own work, the gallery represents an eclectic mix of highly recognised contemporary British artists.

The gallery sends out frequent newsletters and the website is constantly updated with new work which is also featured on social media platforms.
