Jenny Aitken lives in Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District, but she has strong family roots and connections to Cornwall and the Channel Islands, and the sea is in her blood, so consequently, much of her output is marine in subject matter.  She graduated with an Art & Art History degree from Aberystwyth university in 1998, and has exhibited all over the UK and won several awards, including Derbyshire Artist of the Year in Artist of the Year in 2008 and was most recently, highly commended in The Artist 2019 exhibition and festival choice in the 2019 Buxton Spa prize. Jenny also loves to write, and is a regular contributor to The Artist Magazine.  Jenny paints in both oils and acrylics, and has a fresh, immediate style. Minimal, bravura brushstrokes are carefully placed with big brushes to give the finished piece a beautiful, painterly feel, and you know, straightaway, that she is a painter of undeniable quality and is on an upward path, without any doubt! We are delighted and excited to be able to show Jenny’s work in Uppingham.
