Oliver Bull Image
Oliver Bull, born in 1970, has been drawing & painting since childhood. Encouraged by artistic parents, he benefited enormously from exposure to work by their friends Ken Paine, Debra Manifold, Kimm Stevens, Terence Cuneo and Ken Howard. He studied at Wimbledon School of Art (1993), The Surrey Institute of Art & Design (1997); gained a BA(Hons) in Graphic Design, and went on to work for 6 years as a designer/concept visualiser. He worked on a whole range of accounts, including Coca-Cola, and the British Army recruitment campaigns.

Currently based in West Cornwall, Ollie paints en plein air, and from a studio above the small fishing village of Mousehole. An Associate Member of The St Ives Society of Artists (2014), he draws inspiration from the stunning coastal geography and unique quality of light found on the UK's South West Peninsula. Having surfed for several decades, Oliver has developed a comprehensive feel for the moods and atmosphere of the Atlantic coast. His paintings are an emotional response to the marine environment, unique impressions of a place he loves.

Ollie’s paintings are very distinctive and he manages to portray the energy of Cornish coastal landscapes and the typical brilliantly sunlit water with great economy using gorgeously loose, heavily-loaded brushstrokes. He is another painter whose work is in my own collection, so I have put my money where my mouth is! We’re enormously thrilled to have Ollie exhibit with us, to expose him to a wider audience.
