Derek Daniells

Derek Daniells Image
Derek Daniells was born in Stony Stratford, Buckinghamshire in 1949. He handles oil, acrylic and pastel with equal dexterity, painting a wide range of subjects.

Preferring to paint on site from direct observation, Derek can be seen working at any time of day or night. Highly respected by his peers, his paintings are instantly recognisable by the gorgeous marks of colour on the canvas. Objects aren’t so much painted, but slabs of colour come together to describe them. His work displays a passion, excitement and sensitivity for his subject, always seeking to capture a moment in time, which he does with consummate ease.

Derek has exhibited in the open exhibitions of The Royal Society of British Artists (selected for the Daler Rowney painting award 2009), the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Watercolour Society and the Pastel Society. He is a member of the prestigious Wapping Group, who paint the Thames anywhere between Henley and the Thames Estuary. His paintings are part of many private collections both in the UK and abroad, including that of Henrietta, Duchess of Bedford.

A DVD is available from Town House Films, showing Derek’s working methods, available from the Gallery, and we are honoured to further promote his work.
